For those who are applying for college/university in Quebec in 2021-2022, the Cote R (R-score) is the primary indicator of academic performance used by universities throughout the province.
Medicine and related programs have always been among the most difficult programs with extremely low rates of admission. The McGill dentistry program received 169 applications in 2020, a number significantly lower than previous years. 54 were called for an interview and only 8 were admitted with an average Cote R of 36.49, a number well above the provincial average of around 25.
All medicine programs from the 4 universities above require interviews to better assess the "human and social skills" from applicants. McGill University mentioned that in order to be selected for an interview, the Cote R (R-score) accounts for 70% of the selection process, the CASPer Test at 20%, and a personal CV/Resume at 10%, though these proportions can vary greatly from program to program, institution to institution.
"CASPer is a situational judgement test (SJT) that presents test-takers with a series of realistic, hypothetical scenarios and asks them to type out what they would do if they were to be in that particular situation" (CASPer).
All Cote Rs are directly extracted from the respective university's official website and are based on applicants in 2020. For incoming applicants, it is highly recommended to rigorously research your desired programs and concentrations. The following list should only serve as a general guide for further individual research.
