For those who are applying for college/university in Quebec in 2021-2022, the Cote R (R-score) is the primary indicator of academic performance used by universities throughout the province.
Law/Droit are among the hardest programs to get into. However, applicants have a wide range of options to choose from as many major universities in the province offer law-related degrees. In 2019, McGill's Faculty of Law was ranked 20th in the world among the top universities to study law by the Times Higher Education.
It states that it employs a holistic admissions process for its law program, giving more weight to factors other than grades alone. However, the average age of McGill's 2020 admitted class was 24. 182 were admitted from a pool of 1423 applicants, with 18% being directly admitted from CEGEP, according to the faculty's website.
McGill Law applicants are not required to take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT), a standardized test required for admission to most North American law programs. It states that the faculty is a bilingual learning environment and does not want to disadvantage applicants who speaks French as their primary language. Graduates receive two law degrees: a Juris Doctor (JD) and a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL). McGill Law has one of the most diverse cohorts in the province.
All Cote Rs are directly extracted from the respective university's official website and are based on applicants in 2020. For incoming applicants, it is highly recommended to rigorously research your desired programs and concentrations. The following list should only serve as a general guide for further individual research.
